How to Create Your First Event-Based Deal

3 minutesread

Welcome! This guide will walk you through creating your very first Event-Based Deal.

An Event-Based Deal is the ideal choice if you’re offering a product, ticket, or special with a set price that does not require customers to book a specific time slot. It’s perfect for restaurant specials, retail discounts, tickets to a performance, or limited-quantity offers.

Let’s build your first Event-Based Deal together.

Step 1: Basic Information

First, navigate to Listings → Add Listing and select the “Event” option. This will take you to the deal creation page.

  • Listing Title: This is your short, compelling headline. Make it exciting and clear! (e.g., “Two-for-One Burger Special on Tuesdays” or “50% Off All Winter Coats – This Week Only!”).
  • Listing Logo: Upload your business logo here.
  • Category: Choose the category that best fits your deal. You can choose from: Automotive, Education, Entertainment, Food and Drinks, Health and Wellness, Home and Garden, Services, and Shopping.
  • Keywords: Don’t worry about this section! To optimize your deal for search, we will take care of the keywords for you upon submission for approval. Just leave this part blank.

Step 2: Location

Help customers find you easily.

  • Business Address: Enter your full business address, including the street, city, state, and zip code. Our smart map tool will automatically add a pin for your location.
  • Friendly Address: Add your City and State here for a cleaner display (e.g., Rexburg, Idaho).
  • Region: Choose your region from the dropdown menu.

Step 3: Gallery

Showcase your amazing deal!

  • Images: Upload 2 to 4 high-quality images. Make sure the photos show exactly what the customer will get. For a food deal, show the delicious food! For a retail deal, show the products!

Step 4: Details & Media

This is where you’ll provide the specifics of your offer.

  • Description: Please follow this template for clarity and impact:
    1. Start with a short, catchy headline.
    2. On the next line, add the Expiration Date of your deal in bold.
    3. After that, describe your deal as thoroughly as you can. We will make modifications and adjustments as needed during the approval process to ensure it shines.
  • YouTube Video: Do you have a video showcasing this deal? Add the YouTube URL here!
    • ⭐ Don’t have a video? We’ve got you covered! As a Savvy Local partner, we offer a complimentary service where we will come to your establishment and film a quick, professional video for your deal. We will contact you beforehand during the approval process to schedule a time.
  • Optional Contact Info: The rest of the fields are optional, but we recommend filling them out. This includes Phone, Website, Email, and links for Facebook, X (Twitter), YouTube, Instagram, and more.

Step 5: Event Details & Ticket Settings

This is the key section for an Event-Based Deal.

  1. Event Date: Set the timeframe for your deal. Add a Start Date & Time and an End Date & Time. This creates the window when your deal is active and redeemable.
  2. Activate Booking: Find the “Booking” toggle and switch it to “Active”. This will open the ticket settings.
  3. Booking Prices and Settings:
    • Available Tickets: This is your inventory control. Set the maximum number of deals that can be purchased. This is perfect for limited-quantity offers.
    • Ticket Price: Enter the special deal price for one ticket or item.
    • Enable Instant Booking: We highly recommend you switch this on. Since customers aren’t booking a time slot, enabling this will automatically approve their purchase so you don’t have to manually approve each one.
    • Information for Email Message: Write a heartfelt, custom message here. Your customer will receive this in their confirmation email after they purchase your deal. It’s a great place to say thank you and provide any redemption instructions (e.g., “Show this confirmation to your server to redeem”).

Step 6: Final Steps

You’re at the finish line!

  1. Click the “Preview” button to see what your deal will look like to customers.
  2. If you like what you see, click “Submit for Approval”.

Our team will review your submission, which may take 24 to 48 hours (usually less than 24 hours if everything looks good).
